CAS element: Creativity
Time: 1 hour
For my first life drawing class, the teacher nominated students to be modals and hold postures on chairs or tables. We then had only five minutes to make a quick sketch of each posture. We were asked to draw strictly the basic lines of the body using mostly straight lines and not to draw volume nor details. I managed to do five sketches of my peers and compared them with my neighbor.

For my second life drawing class, we learned to measure proportion with our pen. We first divided our paper in four, then using chalk we had to mark with a line the shoulders, the waist, the knees and the feet in correct proportion to his head. At each stage we had to add lines to create the basic forms of the body. I liked it very much because I learned a new way of drawing, using your pen to measure proportions and chalk to draw.

Today we had the choice between using collage or paint. I chose collage, which consist to tear and glue pieces of paper. Someone paused in front of us and we only had to illustrate his form and volume with geometric shapes. It was interesting as I had not done collages since primary school and it brought back some old but joyful memories.

Today's lesson consisted in drawing a pose with continuous lines, in other words without letting the pencil leave the paper. We first did two poses with the pencil and then two with paint. It was very hard to keep the pencil at all times on the paper, especially when you wanted to think. I had the reflex to lift my hand. This new way of drawing was interesting and will be beneficial for future drawing.

For our last class of life drawing we had to choose from magasins a model of our choice. The only restriction was that all of the body had to be visible. We then had the rest of the hour to replicate the pose using the methods learnt in the previous classes with as much details as possible. The model I chose had not an easy pose and it was hard to find the right proportions. Drawing in the details was also not simple.
